DVD Audio 5.1 Channel

Postby jonjonmia » 01 Feb 2021 05:43

All the posts seemed to be quite old (like over a decade) so I want to restate the question in 2021. Using the Foobar Codec (or some other one), does VLC playback DVD Audio in Multichannel 5.1? or is it compressed to mp3 or some other stereo format? Thank you.

VLC is able to play any audio format from a standard video DVD: Dolby AC-3, DTS, MP2 and PCM, whether or not they are multichannel.
FYI the 'Foobar Codec' doesn't exist and VLC uses its own internal built-in codecs.
