Auto-open last file and auto-resume from the point playback was interrupted

For questions and discussion that is NOT (I repeat NOT) specific to a certain Operating System.

Auto-open last file and auto-resume from the point playback was interrupted

Postby Stan4611 » 30 Nov 2020 13:15

Hello. I was looking for an answer and I didn't find a solution. I have installed the "Resume Media" extension but it seems that it does not work.
I am using VLC Media Player 3.0.11 on Linux and Windows.
I would like to get the expected behaviour as such:

1. I am watching a movie.
2. I close VLC media player by clicking on the X mark in the upper right corner of the window.
3. I reopen the VLC media player.
4. I press space or the Play button on the interface, and the movie from point 1 starts playing from the moment it was interrupted in point 2 without having to manually choose the file.

How to set up VLC media player to behave like this?
