Blu-ray host key/certification revocation

Postby tuaris » 18 Jul 2020 10:39

As I understand, Blu-ray discs can update the MKB when a new disc is played. Does that also apply when I use libaacs with VLC to play the discs?
Or does simply putting the disc in the drive trigger this?

I'm confused since some sources say that the aacs authentication process triggers it (and it's unclear if that process has to be done though 'authorized' means). Other sources tell me that simply putting the disc in the drive triggers it.

Related question, is there a way to see what version of the MKB is currently flashed in my drive and what version is currently on the disc?
