VLM MIDI playback sounds wrong on some files

Postby devilemporium » 08 Aug 2019 20:45

Just as the title says. I'm using Patch93's SC-55 soundfont, and while most MIDIs played sound good, some are completely off tune or sound as if they are using a different instrument. However, I don't have this issue using VirtualMIDISynth. Could it be an issue with the version of Fluidsynth that comes with the download of VLM?

We need the MIDI file and the SoundFont file for testing purposes.

I finally figured out how to fix that. Check out this link:

https://wiki.videolan.org/Midi/

Then check this link on that page:

http://www.schristiancollins.com/generaluser.php

Get the GeneralUser GS sound font. Then select that file.

I had had this same problem since 2014 when Windows XP ended, and I was using Windows media player on that. I started Linux and put on the VLC media player. I have had Linux Mint 32 and 64 bit, and now MX Linux. I still use both Mint 18.1 32bit and MX Linux 19 latest version. It seems to have it's own sound font in the repositories that install on the fluid synth install. They should change the default sound font to this one. It sounds a lot better.
