MKV problem - Mac 10.3.2

I read that mkv should be supported by VLC but I still can't play mkv movies.
Do I need to change any settings or... ?

mkv: unknow codec id=`V_REAL/RV40'
main: no suitable decoder module for fourcc `undf'.
VLC probably does not support this sound or video format.

Can I play this with another player?
Any plans to add this format to VLC?

VLC 0.7.1a. Mac, 10.3.2 on G5

MKV is supported, but your file use real video codec that we don't support.
