Hello,
I want to record as a file a part of a DVD with subtitles, and can't seem to make it work… I know the record button doesn't do the trick, so I've searched through the forum to get information on how to proceed, but something still goes wrong.
I'm using VLC 3.0.4 on Windows 10. It's in French, so I'll translate the names of the menus & options; they might not be exactly how they appear in English, sorry.
My guess is the following:
- Media, Convert/Save, Disk tab
- no menus checked, title: 8, chapter: 3, audio track: -1 by default, subtitles track: 3
- select Convert in the drop-down list
- new window: Convert checked, profile: Video - H.264 + MP3 (MP4)
- click on tool icon next to profile
- Video codecs tab: Video checked by default
- Audio codecs tab: Audio checked by default
- Subtitles tab: check Subtitles and Inlay subtitles on video
- click on Save
- Destination file: click on Browse, enter non-existent file with mp4 extension
- click on Start
It just plays the DVD up to the main menu, and does not create any file.
I tried [un]checking several boxes, selecting other profiles, to no avail.
What am I missing?
Thank you in advance.
