I am trying to convert an mkv file into mp4 using VLC, but I cannot get it to work.

The problem is, once I select the destination folder (which I have to in order for the "start" button to not be greyed out), it shows me it is going to make the same file type.
Ex:
Original: D:/documents/video.mkv
Convert: Original: D:/downloads/video.mkv
And I did run it to test, and it does indeed just copy the file; it does not convert.
Any help would be very much appreciated! Thank you!
