Does not play an m2ts file from a Sony TV

For questions and discussion that is NOT (I repeat NOT) specific to a certain Operating System.

Does not play an m2ts file from a Sony TV

Postby louwin » 28 Jan 2019 09:22

I have produced a 35 second file of size 16Mb to help process/analyse/debug the m2ts file.
The file was recorded on a Sony Bravia 70W850B television. I also have the associated "tlm" file should it be needed?
These files have FAILED with every program I've tried them with. Video players, Video converters, every program I can download and test.
These files are on a 256Gb USB3.0. I have since had the TV repaired and the "Main" board replaced. The repaired TV no longer recognises
my USB as a recording device and it now needs to register it AND re-reformat it so I'm desperate. I have all the matches of a team I support
on it and cannot play these files any more.
I would even pay a reasonable subscription for any program that will play or convert these recordings. :(
The Google Drive link to the file....

Thanks in anticipation :)

I don't even need to look at the file.
Blame DRM. Blame Sony.

So are you saying that there is NO way to access these files!? Even with the "tlm" files?

How does the TV play the files then? I suspect by decrypting it? Can't another process do this too? Is the decryption key held on the USB somewhere?

So, no I can never access these files again? :(

Only this TV can play them, yes.
