Convert/Save takes its time but output is binary identical

Convert/Save takes its time but output is binary identical

Postby davidvl » 03 Mar 2019 16:16

Hi,

I'm using VLC 3.0.6 on a Surface Pro 3 running Windows 10 version 1903.

I copied a video recording called RRAG6712.MOV from my girlfriends iPad air 2.

In VLC, I:
- Choose Convert/Save
- Select the source file
- Click Convert
- Select profile 'Video for MPEG4 1080p TV/device'
- Select a destination

It's a video of roughly 17 minutes which is transcoded by VLC in about 5 minutes at roughly 70% CPU. However, in the end, nothing has changed and VLC doesn't do a good job of making clear why. The destination file is unchanged, the sourcefile is unchanged (as expected, but hey I might have misunderstood). Possibly it's already MP4 1080p, but if so, why doesn't VLC warn me?

Thanks.

David
