Subtitles not automatically chosing

Postby RhytmicPatnsu » 04 Feb 2019 23:07

Hello,
i've been having this issue with some of the Anime i watch, usually VLC automatically detects the right subtitle file and uses it after i set "English Subs" in the preferences. Unfortunately, there always seem to be these few exceptions, where i have to select the subtitle track for every new episode (which can get really annoying when trying to binge something). Usually the reason for that seems to be that the subtitle file is called something like "Full Subtitles . Japanese" (despite being english), so i tried using "any" as preference for the subtitles, thinking it would chose any subtitle track over none, thus automatically selecting the only one available. Sadly, that didn't quite work out. I tried adding "Japanese" as subtitle preference (separated from "English" with a comma), but that didn't fix it either.
There also seem to be some cases where the subtitle track is called "English Subs", but it doesn't chose it despite the name. The easiest way for me would just be to put the entire show into VLC and chose a subtrack on the playlist screen, that'd make it pretty easy and fix my issue, but i wasn't able to find any option for that.
Is something like that possible? Is there something else i could try?

Thanks in advance
