Greetings, just installed Firefox ESR 52.9.0 and reinstalled VLC components including Mozilla Plugin yet still not showing up in the list of Extensions/Plugins. I even followed this wiki article section (https://wiki.videolan.org/Windows/#VLC_ ... Mozilla.29) but was unable to find the "mozilla" subfolder when the all-in-one software installation method was not helpful. Yet the ActiveX Plugin was installed successfully and is enabled. How to resolve this issue? The only solution is to use Firefox ESR 52.9.0 which is the latest version to still support NAPI plugins. But branch 52 should not be updated anymore.
Or one of the Firefox forks which still supports NPAPI: Cyberfox, Palemoon or Waterfox.
Keep in mind you are going to use this at your own risks as it is not supported anymore.
Does that mean, even if I installed a legacy Firefox ESR browser with NPAPI plugin support and disabled browser automatic updates, VLC NPAPI plugin still won't work? I am NOT using the latest version of Firefox. This technology is outdated, not supported by recent browsers, and shouldn't be used anymore. Full stop.
Followed every piece of instruction but still doesn't work. plugin.load_flash_only was already present and set to false after entering about:config and searching for existing plugin.load_flash_only. VLC plugin still didn't appear even when toggling the setting back and forth. Is there something else I need to do or had done wrong?
This technology is outdated, not supported by recent browsers, and shouldn't be used anymore. Full stop.
Not only that but ancient versions of Firefox are surely full of unfixed security issues.
