VLC-3.0.1: Manually enabling 360° mode for MPEG-TS streams

Postby tbtk35 » 07 Mar 2018 18:18

Hello,

I would like to enable the 360° mode when playing mpeg-ts video streams in VLC. I've searched several hours (VLC advanced options, on the web, on the command line interface etc ...) without finding any clue on how to achieve that.

If my understanding is correct, the 360° mode is enabled in VLC when some specific metadatas are inserted in the stream ( https://github.com/google/spatial-media ). However, it appears that these metadatas are only compatible with MP4 streams. Is there a way of manually enabling 360° mode in VLC (filter)?

For particular reasons, the mpeg-ts is mandatory in my use-case. More info on my setup: VLC-3.0.1, input is HEVC-Main, 3840x1920p30, equirectangular 360° field, MPEG-TS, input is network (udp multicast IP).

Can anyone help me on this topic please ?

Thanks !

Best regards
