maximum tracking time issue on audio recordings

Postby geoma » 15 Feb 2018 01:57

I'm using VLC 2.2.6, "Open Capture Device -> Set Video device to "none" -> Audio device to my sound card -> play -> record" to record an internet stream. Problem I am facing: if the recording goes too long, usually around 4 or 5 hours, it seems to mess up the tracking and it will loop over to 0:00 again. So basically, if I record 6 hours of audio, the resulting .wav will be huge but may only contain the last hour or so of tracking, with anything beforehand seemingly lost/hidden in the file. I've tried vidcoder/handlebar and other tools to recode it in hopes of recovering the lost audio, but no luck with any method. No software I've loaded it into can recognize the true (or intended) length.

Are there any file length limitations with wavs or VLC that I'm not considering?

Thanks!!
