/sometimes/ need to Re-size window to fit video size

For questions and discussion that is NOT (I repeat NOT) specific to a certain Operating System.

/sometimes/ need to Re-size window to fit video size

Postby coyote2 » 06 Feb 2018 17:14

I've got VLC set to automatically size windows to fit video size
(both with Menu|Video|Alway Fit Window and Menu|Tools|Preferences|Resize interface to video size)

and it mostly does...but sometimes...

(somehow, not sure how to replicate [maybe if I start the video with the window still maximized from the last video, or manually resize, or maybe as I play multiple videos with multiple windows,] but never mind that)

...the window size doesn't match the size of the video.

In such cases, I manually make the window tiny, stop the video, then Ctrl-1 to restart it which does always perfectly result in my desired proper window=video size.
I'd love (and don't know of) a hotkey/button/etc to do those three actions instantly. (Those three actions are very tedious/repetitive...and I have carpal tunnel.)

Is there, please?

Oops wait, of course I don't want to literally "do those three actions instantly"!
I want to avoid those three actions, and with one shortcut instantly get the same result (of resizing the window to the video size). (Wow, I should not post when I'm too tired!)

I guess no such shortcut exists so I have submitted a feature request.

Version 3.0.0 Vetinari (Windows 7/8.1) has the same issue. I also noticed that the relevant settings simply don't work if the last use of VLC was to display in a window larger than the newly started video's video size.

So it is quite problematic that one needs to take the above three actions to achieve proper window=video size.
