For questions and discussion that is NOT (I repeat NOT) specific to a certain Operating System.

RE: VLC To Play CD ROM

Postby monsterjazzlicks » 06 Oct 2017 04:24

Hi folks,

This is my first ever post here.

I wanted to ask please:

How do I assign VLC to open CD ROM discs, please? I have disassociated Windows 'Media Player' with everything. At the moment CD ROM discs are being opened by 'CamTasia'.

Can you actually play CD ROM discs via VLC, please?

I am on PC running Windows_10.

Many thanks in advance for any kind assistance offered here.

Best,

Paul (UK)

If a software hijacks your drive, that's not a vlc issue
:!: If you want your problem to be solved :
* First read troubleshooting guide VSG:Main
* Always provide verbose LOGS ! (command line or from gui)
* Always check your issue against a developer build from Nightly Build of VLC
* Tell us when your problem is solved !

Hi Lotesdelere,

Testing out my Google-Drive as I think that might suffice, thanks.

Where, please, do I find the correct place for:
Menu Media -> Open Disc
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Byeppp ... sp=sharing

Thanks,

Hi Lotesdelere,

Thanks very much indeed.

For some reason, it still will not auto-play DVDs or CDs?

I tried also making some changes in the Control-Panel on my PC.

Much appreciated,

Paul

Hi again,

VLC now auto-plays the DVDs now, thanks.

But I wanted to ask, please: is there within VLC player, a shortcut for EJECT (ie. E-Drive)? In my other CD/DVD s/w's the shortcut is (eg.) 'ALT+E''.

Many thanks,

You can still right click on your CD/DVD/BD drive in Windows Explorer and select Eject from the context menu ;-)

Hi Lotesdelere,

Thanks.

I have been using that currently because the EJECT button (on my PC) is a little cumbersome. Perhaps it is possible to create a shortcut (to my desktop) to this?

Cheers,

Thanks mederi,

I managed to get that done and created a desktop shortcut 'icon':

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Byeppp ... sp=sharing

I also created a shortcut: 'CTL + ALT + E' to eject.

However, I don't think it's possible to create one such as 'ALT + E' because it keeps automatically placing a 'CTL' at the front of the command?

Cheers,

Paul
