Color Problem

Postby SqsF » 04 Jul 2017 22:01

Hi

I'm having some trouble with the colors. When i watch a movie many of the black scenes or the camera points in a direction of blackness. The black look kinda blue-ish.

I have 2 PC's one of them is with a Nvidia 580 i have no problems on that PC, and another one with a Intel HD 405, that is the one with the problem. (Same TV as output)

I've tried reinstalling, resetting VLC and i even tried moving the settings file from the working PC to the not working PC. I also tried different versions of VLC 64bit, nightly builds..etc....Samething still blue.

Here is were it's getting weird, when i play a movie through MPC (sorry for mentioning it in here :D), i get no blue colors, thats when i thought it could be a color settings problem, when i adjust the HUE in the color settings just 1 or 2 up, the blue actually goes away but some other colors turn green-ish.

Also...i tried different output modes (OpenGL, Directx9 etc.), and hardware acceleration, same thing.

i'm really confused, Is it VLC, a driver thing, or is the driver just badly calibrated?

Running Windows 10 64bit on both PC's
and VLC 2.2.6 64bit

Edit: Windows Media player is not showing the colors

You can also try to enable or disable some video options such as Overlay and/or Hardware YUV -> RGB conversions.

Thx, Not the problem i'm having, i tried it though....didnt do anything to fix my problem :(

I think i concluded that the problem is just the ways the 2 graphics cards are calibrated.

After spending hours adjusting saturation, contrast and gamma i think i got a good picture without the blue colors, what i still dont get is why the color settings are different in video and display settings.

I also think, that MPC and Windows Media Player get the default color settings from the "Video settings" section of Intel control panel, were VLC just use the "Display settings" section, or VLC atleast ignores the video section

I uploaded this to Ilustrate my problem

NVIDIA - http://imgur.com/Wvyuutr - on nvidia there is no difference between Desktop and Video settings

INTEL - http://imgur.com/jsqKkvw - on intel there is a huge color difference

The blue-ish color problem i have: http://imgur.com/NUFZMJi

I still can't figure out if this is a VLC problem or a driver thing....at this point i don't know, it seems like VLC is just running its own show when it comes down to color settings.

Could be related, my colors doesn't look washed out though, if they do i just turn off YUV-to-RGB convertion usally fix my washout problem.
