Creating a transport stream compatible with JVD HD Camera

Postby Frank Lamotto » 30 Nov 2003 22:24

I have been using a JVC JY-HD10 at work. VLC on Panther can read the transport stream created by the camera and captured using Apple virtualDVHS tool. I have used DVB matt's Project X tool to demux the stream and bring it into Final Cut, I can then convert the edited file to a DivX 4 file which plays in VLC, but using "open" and saving the file back to a mpeg2 transport stream does not play in the camera.

Does it seem possible to use VLC for export to the following format?

the transport stream has the folowing structure
* Stream Type : MPEG-2 TS Bitrate : 19750973 bps

* Video Stream Type : MPEG-2 Video Picture Size : 1280 x 720
Aspect Ratio : 16:9
Frame Rate : 29.97 frames/sec.
Bitrate : 18300000 bps
VBV Buffer Size : 3670016 bit
Constrained Parameter Flag : Off
Profile and Level : MP@H1440L
Progressive/Interlaced Sequence : Progressive
Chroma Format : 4:2:0
Low Delay Flag : Off
Rate Control : CBR

* Audio Stream Type : MPEG-1 Audio Layer : LayerII
Error Protection : On
Bitrate : 384000 bps
Sampling Frequency : 48000 Hz
Mode : Stereo
Copyright Flag : Off
Original or Copy : Original
De-emphasis Type : None

I don't think anyone at JVC ever tested if your camera plays movies it hasn't created itself. It's not meant to be a player, so there only has to be a small difference between what VLC creates and what the camera expects and things can go wrong. This is because the camera doesn't have a complete and perfect implementation of the videodecoder. it doesn't need it. it only needs to play what it creates.
Don't use PMs for support questions.

The transport stream created by the camera is already playable by VLC.
The camera is made to be compatable with the transport stream for DVHS recorders. I am trying to create a transport stream from another source MPEG 4 or DivX that will be compatible with the camera but it should be the same task as anyone looking to take their stream and save it to a DVHS device.
