UPNP connection lost when saving video

Postby wideseen » 04 Jul 2017 02:27

The problem is that the upnp connection breaks off when saving HD titles from a harddiskrecorder to the PC.

VLC is 2.2.6 Umbrella
Harddisk recorder is Panasonic DMR-BCT820

I choose View->Playlist->Local Network->Universal Plug'n'Play->DMR-BCT820->HDD->Video->All->pick a title->right-click->Save...->Browse->specify filename->Save->Start
Profile is "Video - H.264 + MP3 (MP4)".
If the title is HD the saving breaks off at unpredictable times as if it has finished. The saved file can be played but is cut short.
The streaming/save starts normally but there is no total time or elapsed time on the progress bar (both show 00:00).
The connection can be lost after f.ex. an hour elapsed, 80% saved and a file size of +3GB but if varies even for the same title retried.

If the title is standard TV 720p then it always saves a file to completion and the progress bar times are on.

Is this a known issue or do I have a local problem and can it be made to work? Help is much appreciated.

Try a nightly build, the UPnP support in VLC 2.2 (and before) is quite broken. Things are a bit better now
