Defaults to 1st audio track, even if hidden in menu -- bug?

For questions and discussion that is NOT (I repeat NOT) specific to a certain Operating System.

Defaults to 1st audio track, even if hidden in menu -- bug?

Postby markfilipak » 02 Apr 2017 04:45

Version 2.2.4 Weatherwax. Jean-Baptiste and all the crew: Thank you for making this fine player available!

Bug: On a 3-way branching Blu-ray with 3 feature films, VLC always plays the 1st audio track even when it's hidden in the selected title's menu.
I tested this with higher numbered titles, some of which unhid the 1st audio track and some of which hid the 1st audio track.
In every case, VLC always defaulted to the 1st audio track regardless of whether it was hidden, so VLC seems to be ignoring the menu.

Regards,
Mark.

Hi JB!

The Blu-ray is disc 3 of 2007's "5-DISC COMPLETE COLLECTOR'S EDITION" of "Blade Runner" -- the so-called Archive Versions of the film (i.e., U.S. Theatrical, International Theatrical, and "Director's Cut"): UPC 085391185741 or UPC 883929255450 (both are region free). UPC 085391185741 is the version I have.

I'm pretty sure this disc 3 is the same disc as the disc 3 in 2012's "30TH ANNIVERSARY COLLECTOR'S EDITION": UPC 085391185710 or UPC 883929255467.

I'm also fairly sure that it is the same as the French release of "30TH ANNIVERSARY COLLECTOR'S EDITION": EAN 5051889282983, but with a different playlist of course (different dialog languages and different subtitles) or "EDITION COLLECTOR DU 30EME ANNIVERSAIRE": EAN 5051892120708, but again with a different playlist.

I believe they are ALL region free. If this info is not enough, I can continue to research it. I'm trying to make sense of the various "Blade Runner" releases. I could even send you my disc 3 if you like.

Here are all the gory details (''Blade Runner''-[1982] is my designation for the U.S. Theatrical, ''Blade Runner''-[1982-I] is my designation for the International Theatrical, and ''Blade Runner''-[1991] is my designation for the "Director's Cut"):

Hey JB,

Were you able to confirm this behavior? (Do you have access to any of the "Blade Runner" Blu-rays I mentioned?) To the best of my knowledge, they are all region free and can be played in France.
