How to Hide Menu - Interfaces - Preferences

Postby olivierG » 13 Feb 2017 14:50

I have setup VLC as a default player on the computers for music, and vidéos.

Each time users log-in, VLC is initialised with some specifics settings and skin. However, they can still modify settings during the session wich i do not want.

Is there a way to block the access to the Menu --> Interfaces --> Préférences ?

Thanks,

With Windows, there is this way:

Create a link on the desktop.
destination: "C:\Program Files (x86)\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe" --intf dummy --fullscreen file:///D:/video.mp4 vlc: //quit

Properties of the link.
For run: Minimiert

With this solution, i can get VLC being launched with no menu at all, nor any option to move in the video ( forward/pause...)
This does not match exactly what i need.. I just want to block access to "preferences".. All the other menu are OK..
any other suggestion ?

I do not see any way to permanently hide the controls from the users how you want.
You can hide the menu bar by using Ctrl+H or the Menu-View-Minimal interface. But the users can display the menu bar again via Ctrl+H.

Yah, it lloks like we cannot prevent right click oin the VLC wich give access to the Menu..
Ctrl+H could be prevented as we can configure the shortcut..

How do you configure the shortcut Ctrl+H?

you can defined the hotkeys at : tools --> preferences --> all --> Interface --> hotkeys settings.

However, looking closely, i did not see ctrl + H there.

The hotkeys are only for the playback of media objects.
