Wlan-radio as speaker for VLC

Postby bennypr0fane » 08 Dec 2016 19:11

Hi, I'm considering buying an internet radio with wlan, which among other things would have the purpose of a speaker for vlc player that is running on my Linux pc in the other room.
I guess this should be possible in some way, but I have no idea how to make it work technically.
How would the stream from VLC be picked up by the radio? Can VLC somehow pretend to be an internet radio station? Is a specific kind of device/specific features recommended for this?

If that works, how could I operate VLC from the room with the internet radio? Would it respond to the commands of the raidio's own remote control (hardware, not app), or would it be necessary to have a VLC remote control on a smartphone? In that case, some lagging should be expected, right?
Best regards, Ben
