VLC lockup during network streaming

VLC version 2.2.4 Weathermax.
I enter iptv service url in Open Network Stream to record, usually over night.
It streams fine and recording fine.
But when I wake up, vlc shows frozen picture, recording stopped sometime ago. vlc is frozen or locked up.
I can't re-stream, so I close vlc.
BUT I see vlc is still open in task manager. I have to "end process" vlc in task manager.

So question is what causes vlc to lockup during live network streaming?
Even after I close vlc, it still shows in task manager. Does this mean anything? help troubleshoot?

When vlc is locked up, I can't close vlc by choosing Media/Quit, I have to click red X upper right corner.

That is probably a bug.
