Any way to get 2.0.8 to play HEVC/H.265 codec videos?

For questions and discussion that is NOT (I repeat NOT) specific to a certain Operating System.

Yeah, stupid question but I was wondering if there's a way to. Aside from maybe converting it. I am very much not a fan of the new player.
