Streaming using VLC? - problem

Hey guys and gals , i joined this forum to ask a quick question, i have used VLC for many many years and swear by it. Its only the last few days i found out you can stream using it

Ok, i have the URL for a stream i want to play using VLC

i click "media, open network stream" , then paste the URL in to the box and click play? that should work shouldn't it , but it doesn't.....

I did a quick google search and found a page that provides VLC test streams, again i copy and pasted the address in to VLC, hit play and it worked , picture came on straight away almost

so my question is why did the two test streams i tried ,work?? yet all the URL's i have tried that contains the stream do not work on VlC???

So why is it that only the test streams i found work , yet all other sites that has a stream on it will not work ???

What makes you think the 2 urls you were querying, are video streams. I was able to click those 2 and arrive at a website... which leads me to believe they are NOT video streams at all. I CAN see you are trying to watch sport. the sites I use keep changing the stream, so no good trying to lead you there... but to get a url stream, I start to view using firefox with download helper installed. Once that starts playing, use download helper help to guide you to the url.... or buy skype access
