left clicking to open system folders

when i left click on a system folder, it opens vlc, rather than opening the folders to view files. can that be fixed? i looked under preferences, did a search, and looked through the threads on this forum, but unless im missing something, im lost. i can open the folder on the right click-open.... but im in the habit of left clicking to open a folder, and when i forget to right click-open.... its very annoying..... how can i restore the left click to the way it was?

this is windows problem. not vlc issue. to find solution, google "windows folder default actions".
