Audio Distortion Problem

Postby gdvorsky » 30 Nov 2003 06:28

I just installed the VLC player, but I'm getting a strange audio distortion on playback -- sounds like an old analogue tape being slowed down and sped back up to normal speed periodically. I'm also getting some digital pops that sound like clipping pops. Any ideas?

Exactly, I get that too. Strangely, this doesn't happen for DVDs.

This could happen for several reasons
1. The file contains incorrect timing information
2. The connection is bad (too slow, packet loss, corrupted file, etc)
3. Some bug in vlc causes it to calculate wrong timing information.

Could you tell us what media causes this behaviour?

Audio Distortion Problem

Sorrry, here are the specifics:
- VLC Media Player 0.6.2
- Windows 2000
- playing a DVD (specificaly Queen: Live At Wembley Stadium -- unfortunately the only DVD I've got to test)
- playing it off the DVD

Note: I've even tried disabling the High Quality Audio Resampling item in the prefs to no effect
