ZMBV not working

I tried to play DOSBox Video records (ZMBV) on VLC 2.1.3 (latest version) on Windows 7 - only audio and no video.
On older version of VLC it worked fine.

Is it just me or it is a known bug?

Please open Tools -> Messages (set Verbosity to 2) before you start the playback, and then paste the full resulting log here or on Pastebin.com if it's too long.

Also upload a short sample of a problematic file to either http://streams.videolan.org/upload/ or to Zippyshare.com (200 MB max) or to EmbedUpload.com, the latter will upload the file for you to several other hosts (use the default ones) and then post the link to the file here.

If needed cut it with DGsplit and read here about how to do it:

Looks like some ZMBV are playing fine with VLC 2.1.3 but some other ones don't. Yours is giving me a black screen.

However they are all playing fine with v2.2.0 nightly builds:

ZMBV codec video. Only audio no video on VLC 2.2.1 64 bit, Windows 10 64 bit. By the way it plays normally on Windows Media Player and Solveigmm Media Splitter (only after installation of said codec). Uploaded to Youtube, worked normally. It's just 4 seconds of video, 320x240, got it from a DOSBox gaming session. I recorded several, same results.

ZMBV codec video. Only audio no video on VLC 2.2.1 64 bit, Windows 10 64 bit.

I've found your sample and I can't reproduce the issue, it's playing fine for me (red skull on blue background).

Try with the 32-bit version of VLC.

Or try this:
Menu Tools -> Preferences (Show Settings = ALL) -> Input/Codecs -> Demuxers
Then on the right panel select Avformat Demuxer
Save the preferences then exit and restart VLC.
