No audio when converting

So I am trying to convert some old movie files on a Windows computer so I can edit them on my mac. The video files are VOB files and I'm trying to open them in VLC Player and convert them into .mp4 files. Problem is when I open the files after they've finish converting, the audio is gone. Its completely stripped from the video. Does anyone know how to solve this? The sooner the better, this is very important.

Same here. Windows 7, VLC 2.2.1, no audio. Regardless of what I choose in the audio settings tab. Also for "keep original track".

Hello there,

First, let me say that working with video/audio files is very confusing for me. I rarely need to work with them, and the multitude of formats is overwhelming.

I had a 10 minute video that I needed to convert so that it would 'play' on a 80 inch television in a seniors center where I work. The goal was to put it on a USB stick and use the TV for display. The original video was given to me on a DVD and had the usual Video and Audio folders. I used VLC Player and was able to convert it to one of the many output formats given, however they seemed to not include audio. After trying a number of output formats, I stumbled on the H.264 and MP3 - TS format, and that one had both video and audio. Also, I will mention that I went into the audio tab and checked the 'keep original audio' box.

It's confusing to my why the VLC convert default wouldn't include the audio, but that seems to be the case.
