Random Bad File descriptor error

Postby jeffbmcmahon » 23 Oct 2015 15:03

Hi all,

So I'm trying to load my music files on a USB card. When I play the files from my C: drive, they work normally. After I move them to my USB drive, I get a bad file descriptor error like the following:

File reading failed:
VLC could not open the file "E:\Music\Beethoven\Complete Beethoven Edition Vol. 1 - Symphonies\01-05 Symphony No. 3 in E flat, Op. 55 'Eroica' - I. Allegro con brio.mp3" (Bad file descriptor).
Your input can't be opened:
VLC is unable to open the MRL 'file:///E:/Music/Beethoven/Complete%20Beethoven%20Edition%20Vol.%201%20-%20Symphonies/01-05%20Symphony%20No.%203%20in%20E%20flat%2C%20Op.%2055%20%27Eroica%27%20-%20I.%20Allegro%20con%20brio.mp3'. Check the log for details.

When I try to fire up the same file on Windows Media Player, I get error code C00d1B11.

I guess what I'm struggling to understand is why the same file would work just fine when played from the local drive, but fail when played from the USB. There shouldn't be that much of a difference, right? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!
