playing blu ray file shaky, not smoothly

When I play a large Bluray file (mt2s, 20 GB) in VLC player (latest version) the video doesnot play smoothly but it shocks.
Someone the same experience? Is there something I can set in the options or has it to do with memory.
When I play it in WMP there is no problem it runs smoothly.
