How To Backup Customisation of Interface

Whenever I reinstall VLC Media Player it is a somewhat tedious task to customise the interface to how I want it to look. Does anybody know how or where the customisation files are kept so with future re-installs I can avoid this process; by substituting some files/folders I have saved back into an appropriate folder.
Also is it a 'specific file' or an 'entire folder' that I backup?
Where is it?
