'Record' function with preserved subtitles?

Postby tpprynn » 07 Aug 2015 18:48

I've got a couple of DVDs I'd like to back up using VLC's 'Record' feature from the Advanced Controls, and these films have Swedish audio. I'd like to make an video file with the subtitles encoded into the file. Can this be done? I was hoping that if I had the subtitles on when paying the DVD and using 'Record', they'd remain in the saved video file.

The Record function feels a bit random also - I've used it on some films where the correct aspect ration is preserved, and others where it goes wrong. Should the program read the original aspect ratio and preserve it in the video file made or have I just not got the hang of how to choose the right settings?

Thanks.
