How do I "protect" an MP3?

How do I "protect" an MP3?

Postby vjn » 22 May 2015 17:08

I've recoded a club meeting on my voice recorder, converted the MP3 to a wav file for editing and converted back to MP3. Now I am using VLC Media Player to insert the ID3 tags because I can write to the copyright field.

Now is there a means that I can use to "protect" the MP3 to keep my copyright field from being changed? When I play a file at this point, it says the file is not protected, and usually does not display the copyright.

Yes: don´t share the files with untrusted people.

Sorry, that's no answer to my question. How does one invoke the "protection" feature? At least that'd slow 'em down.

Not that I know, anyone can edit tags and it's quite easy to do it.
Even DRM would protect the content but not the tags.

Just how is it that an MP3 might say "Protected: Yes?" This is all I'm asking for, even if it isn't worth the paper it's printed on? There's a technique there that I would like to become familiar with. Thanks.
