Is it possible to play youtube videos 60fps through vlc?

For questions and discussion that is NOT (I repeat NOT) specific to a certain Operating System.

Im sorry if it's been asked/answered before but I searched and couldn't find an answer after about 15 mins of looking, so I decided to make a new post.
Is there any way to play youtube videos at 60fps through vlc, also to pick which quality, it's currently defaulting to 720p
