possible license violation for a VLC port...

Postby Ophidian » 27 Nov 2003 19:12

i believe that the author of SkyOS might be in violation of the GPL attached to the vlc.

http://www.skyos.org

If I am wrong I appologize up front, but my understanding is that the SkyOS author ported vlc to his SkyOS platform but does not provide a written offer for the source code nor can one download his changes anywhere on his site.

the same author admits to using his own modified version of grub but does not provide the source nor an offer to obtain the source for it.

I belive I've read somewhere on skyos.org that he will send the sources of any ported gpl app to people if they ask. Can't find it anymore though. Please report any success/failure in getting these sources

Such an offer is made right here, on the SkyOS website:

http://skyos.org/downloads/packages.php#GPL

Perhaps in the future you should make an attempt to work with the team about issues, rather than trying to simply get them in trouble.
