How do I get rid of that pop-up thingy?

Can anyone tell me how to get rid of that stupid little "descriptive" pop-up that follows the mouse cursor in my media library or playlists in VLC media player? It's annoying me to death. If I point the mouse cursor at any music folder or file then a stupid pop-up comes up telling me what I'm pointing at. Why do they think we need stupid stuff like that?

I too would dearly love to snuff that stupid popup out permanently. It is so irritating. Please someone help!
