VLC v2.1.5 endless looping during audio extraction

I am ripping the audio from a DVD for a friend who is visually impaired. No matter what VLC endlessly loops. I assume the "no" loop toggle button is active after the "1"/symbol is displayed. No matter what setting after the video comes to the end it repeats. Any and all help resolving this is appreciated. In advance thanks!
