Timed Recording & Editing?

Postby redd » 18 Aug 2014 06:13

I wanted to ask two things here, I hope it is the right place.

!. Can VLC do timed (audio in this case) recording? I would like to "program" it to start/stop recording a live radio stream when I am not home, near the computer (Win 8 PC).
Is there a plug in, app or extension for VLC that makes this simple? I Know zip about writing/scheduling scripts. I have looked into using Audacity but digital > analogue >
back to digital seems clunky to me.

2. Can I edit an audio file with VLC? After recording a stream I would like to cut out parts of it, can I do this with VLC? With an app/plugin/extension for VLC?

Sorry for the simple ? I looked around and searched here but didn't find much that didn't involve writing and scheduling a script.

(1) You can schedule it with the AT command (in windows or Linux).
windows example:
at 21:30 vlc.exe --sout=file/ts:C:\tempwork\filename.ts --run-time=30 --play-and-exit http://192.168.0.201:5004/auto/v67.3?dlna
run time is in seconds
http://192.168.0.201:5004/auto/v67.3?dlna is the stream that you want to record ... it will be specific to your system.
You can get ti by look at the playlist in VLC.

(2) Any number of video editing applications will allow you to edit the recorded file.

Hi everyone!
I have to download some links from Youtube and I want to try in scheduled mode like that post: https://www.reddit.com/r/VLC/comments/8jw4rx/vlc_schedule_recording_a_specific_channel/
nobody reply this guy.
I also write an easy script in .bat on Windows 10 but I can open Vlc at the startup on the link but I can't recording in a "scheduled way". I have saw and tried SchTasks.exe in scheduled operation of Windows but I need to register that video every x day at x hour.
I think it's absolutely crazy (with all respect) that Vlc doesn't support this function with plugins/settings!!
I tried .vlm function but with no results
Does anyone know a solution?

Thanks
