Mozilla metafiles for VLC does'nt work ?

Postby dufour.emmanuel » 19 Feb 2004 14:52

I'm using Mozilla including VLC plugin.

I succeed in embedding a video in a HTML page with the EMBED tag, using the application/x-vlc-plugin type.

I have also inserted a link to a metafile called toto.mp4 in this HTML page.
toto.mp4 contains the text "rtsp://server/toto.mp4".

When i click on the link, a black screen appears in Mozilla with text "(no picture)" at its center. That means metafile is red but does'nt work to display toto.mp4 in Mozilla window.

Somedy have an idea ?

The metafile should be called totu.m3u

EMBED tag is WORNG it's not by w3C standards and also some guy that he invented this tag and he is requesting LICENCES.

Use the OBJECT tag.
More info:
http://www.w3.org/TR/html401/struct/objects.html#h-13.3

And fix your VLC Documentation:
http://www.videolan.org/doc/vlc-user-gu ... lugin.html

You are spreading WRONG informations.

Than ks for the answers.

I have tried toto.m3u.
This extension is referenced in the mozplugger plugin. So the guiwhich appears (called SMMX) when i click on the metafile does'nt seem to be a VideoLan product, isn't it ?
Moreover, this metafile type works for audio files only.

Is there any way to use a metafile for VIDEO file without a HTML-embedded play using a OBJECT tag ? What extension should be used ?
