No audio from TV tuner

Postby Vash The Stampede » 18 Feb 2004 16:54

First let me say this program is great. Works great for streaming video files. 8)

My problem is that I'm trying to stream live video from my TV tuner card. Audio is hooked up in "line in". For some reason I don't hear any sound?

Under "Direct show input" I select "configure" and select "line in". When I go back "Stereo Mix" is still selected even when I changed it to "line in".

I've got audio to work once and then when I restart VLC it doesn't work anymore. This happens on and off. Could just be my luck.

My PC is a AMD Athlon XP 2200 with 512 megs of ram and a Nforce 2 motherboard using built in Sound Storm. Video is ATI Radeon 9500 Pro and capture card is ASUS TV 880 NTSC. OS is Windows XP with SP1. I'm also using VLC 0.7.1 Test 1.

I really want to get this working. Would be a great to have. Thanks.

Hi Vash The Stampede can you tell me where are the settings that allow to watch from TV tuner on VLC because i can't find them or they are specific to VLC 0.7.1.test1? (i am with 0.7.0) or maybe i missunderstood something?
Thanks

Just go to "File" then "open file" then select "Direct show input". Click "Refresh list" for both audio and video to be able to select your card.

I think 0.7.0 has the option but no way to configure it. No "Configure" buttons to select audio souce and tune the Tuner.

I got video and audio to work a few times but if I restart VLC it's impossible to get it back.

ATI TV wonder card - video streams but no sound

Postby TD » 04 Mar 2004 01:05

Have the same problem where the video works great but no sound. Discovered when the video is set to 625 lines versus 525 lines the sound starts streaming and the video streams as well but the video is obviously distorted due to the incorrect setting. Web cam works great and will stream sound and video.

Have the same problem where the video works great but no sound.
Have the opposite problem with my Hauppauge WinTV card: sound but no video. Not even a blank window, nuffink. Not to mention that after trying to watch TV, that is, after launching a DirectShow session, VLC remains hooked: it can only be shut down by killing the vlc.exe process in the Task Manager. Anyway, I reported all this some time ago, but I was hoping that the newer VLC release fixes this bug.
