Platform-independant aspect ratio question

For questions and discussion that is NOT (I repeat NOT) specific to a certain Operating System.

Platform-independant aspect ratio question

Postby RolandC » 09 Feb 2014 15:22

Hi,

My screen is 1366x768 in resolution, and I have been reading everywhere that 16:9 was the best fit for watching 720p videos on a screen of the resolution I have. But I'm not finding that and I could almost swear that 16:10 fits best, why is that?

While watching a 720p video in 16:9, in full screen, the image takes up the whole screen but it's clear heads and shapes are swelled a little, seems to me at least. In 16:10, natural ratio looks okay but there the image does not take up the whole screen, black stripes form vertically, taking up like 5% of the space on each side.

I'm not having any sight issue though...for now..
