On VLC 2.1.0 "Media Info" and "Codec Info" do nothing

Tried several different videos and nothing happens when I try to show "Media Info" or "Codec Info". I remember this working with older versions of VLC. I have no reason to believe this is Windows specific, but I'm running Win7 x64.

Installing VLC 2.1.2 initially solved the problem (and IIRC, I believe it worked in VLC 2.1.0 initially as well). However, it's stopped working, so it again does nothing in VLC 2.1.2. So, I think there's an issue where "codec info" starts out working after install, and then stops working at some point for unknown reasons, and this problem has not been fixed yet AFAIK.

I will try VLC 2.1.3, but it may stop working as well unless someone specifically fixed this issue.

I thought I'd follow up in case someone else is having the same problem. I installed VLC 2.1.3 and it had no effect on the problem - nothing still happened for either "Media Information" or "Codec Information". So I got fed up and reinstalled, this time checking "delete preferences and cache". That seems to have fixed the problem. I really didn't want to blow that away, but I can live with that now that the codec info is working again.

Not sure how it got broken in the first place - I wasn't really doing anything other than playing videos.
