Converting QuickTime videos

Postby DakotaLand » 10 Feb 2014 17:07

I have download the latest version of VLC.

My objective is to convert QuickTime videos into a file format that will be burned into a DVD and then played on a standard DVD player (or Blu-Ray if that makes a difference).

I have read all the support items and instructions but have not been able to accomplish my objective. The QuickTime videos have been spliced. The longest is about 10 minutes. I won’t go into detail on all the various settings that I have tried but many of them cannot handle the splice. If you want I can supply all the various settings and outcomes that I have tried.

I have three questions:

1. Is VLC capable of converting QuickTime video files into a file format that will play on a DVD player?

2. The QuickTime video files that I want to convert have been created by splicing smaller QuickTime videos together. These files play very well via QuickTime and VLC but VLC seemingly has problems handling these splices when converting. So my question is….is VLC capable of converting QuickTime videos which have splices?

3. If the first two questions are YES, please provide step by step instructions, with the proper preference settings, on how to convert and save a QuickTime file into a file format that will play on a DVD player after a DVD has been burned.

Thank you
