Vbrick & Vlc

Postby flare » 29 Nov 2003 20:04

Someone told me VLC can show vbrick contents, I've tried displaying an mp2 TS multicast stream, I can see the network traffic increase, I can see the VLC window but nothing is showed ;(
I've read the M/L and I've tried increasing the MTU size but nothing changed.
Anyone can help me?

PS Using the proprietary s/w streamplayer the stream is displayed without problem.

Thanx

well, could you send us a log ?

Go to the view menu, message box (select the verbose option, if any)

If this is a vbrick you have access to, you should try configuring it so that it aligns TS-packets with udp packets. I have no idea how to do this, but it whould require that the packets sent out by the vbrick have a size that is a multiple of 188 (1316)

thedj: None of the vbrick streams I can find on the mbone right now uses TS. They use mpeg-2 PS in rtp if I'm not very wrong

Lol, that crash is from March :)
Could you upload part of the file to ftp:// ftp.videolan.org/incoming

A couple dozen of megs would be great.

problem solved!

Postby flare » 04 Dec 2003 21:29

I'm sorry, I think the file I've used for testing was not that standard, I've tried another file (downloaded from the vbrick main site) and worked without problem! I've also tried to display a live stream and worked, I've tried to capture the live stream and repump it through vbrick and worked like a charm :)

Thanx for helping

Did you get VLC to play back MPEG-1 streams from a Vbrick? If so, could you tell me how to do so? :D

You need to use ts2 system

udp/ts2://@ipaddres:port

and sometimes you need to increase the --mtu setting as well.

hehe, the combination of both ts2 and a high enough mtu is important.

Actually adding the ts2 didn't work... once I bumped up the mtu, I got video with udp://@239.255.255.247:4444.
