recording from web interface

Hello,

I'm running vlc 2.0.8 and attaching to an axis IP camera. I've set it up so I can control VLC via a webpage.

Maybe I'm just super dense, but I don't see a way to hit the "Record" button from the webpage.

I can view the stream just fine in VLC, and I can hit the red record button on the interface, but I'd like to be able to trigger that from the webpage. Is that not possible?

What I'm really trying to do is trigger recordings of the stream. For example, if I can send the "start recording" and "stop recording" messages to VLC that would be perfect.
