how to learn the time it takes for playback to start?

how to learn the time it takes for playback to start?

Postby ougk » 30 Sep 2013 19:23

Hello,

I am trying to measure the time it takes from the time I am pressing play on VLC until the time it really starts playback.

What I am interested in is to see the difference it takes for VLC to do the the buffering and get the appropriate packets for decoding from different urls and start playing (i am using MPEG-DASH as content for the streaming but this shouldn't really matter). Is there any way to find this time out from VLC or even cVLC?

I really appreciate your help, many thanks!
