Web Plugin in Chrome - No Audio

Postby williamnova » 30 Jul 2013 10:36

Could someone give me a few troubleshooting tips perhaps on this?

I'm using VLC Web Plugin 2.0.6 in the latest version of Chrome ( 28.0.1500.72 m ) and when I drag a video file into Chrome, the video plays but no audio, and I see a slash through the volume icon on the control bar.

These same files will playback with audio in Firefox, but I can't imagine why they won't in Chrome. They will play with audio in the VLC application itself as well.

I realize this isn't fully a VLC issue, but if anybody could perhaps offer me a few suggestions on where to start troubleshooting this I'd much appreciate it.

Slightly related, I notice in chrome://plugins that some of the audio codecs these files are using are not supported directly from within the list of VLC Web Plugin MIME types; in this case, how does the VLC application itself play these audio streams? Does the Web Plugin support a subset of codecs the application itself does? I'd have thought they both support the same list of codecs.
