Image format differ when movie read from DVD or ISO or RIP

For questions and discussion that is NOT (I repeat NOT) specific to a certain Operating System.

Image format differ when movie read from DVD or ISO or RIP

Postby Sébastien Escudier » 04 Jun 2013 09:47

Hi,

I have a DVD with a video format of :
720x576, 50FPS

When I create a VOB file from this DVD, or when I RIP it (I tested VLC and mplayer), the picture is still 720x576 but when I read the file, the picture is distorded.
If I RIP the movie, the result file will be 25 fps, if I create a VOB file, the result file will be 50 fps, but in both cases the image is distorded.

When read from DVD :

When read from a RIP or ISO :

Also I noticed that when read from an ISO, the movie is read faster.
