Hi there, I've tried Google, Bing, and directly searching this forum and found no relative answer to my problem. I watch downloaded Japanese shows and movies (Yes generally anime) and sometimes I prefer an English dub over standard Japanese when dual audio tracks are present. I'm a hardware guy and have a general dislike for software programming but I am not afraid to read a manual or development notes to learn more about software in order to use it. However VLC has no advanced manual for its usage, so I have no way to teach myself what all the advanced options stand for. So my question is, Is it possible to tell VLC to choose a subtitle based on language?

In my mind it is simple, however I am not a programmer, so I'll briefly describe what I'm thinking and see if someone may be able to help.

So if the international standard coding for language is generally accepted and encoded in ISO 639-2 (ENG,JPN,SPA,POR,GER,FRA,etc). Is it possible to use a preferred language selection list and a preferred subtitle selection list in comma separation to dictate preferred subtitle to language usage and say make use of this type of system in VLC. Lets use my problem as an example: If ENG=English, JPN=Japanese, and hypothetically in VLC ***=NONE (Seeing as there isn't an ISO code for NONE), then in the language line I enter ENG,JPN and the subtitle line I enter ***,ENG could I tell the system to use English with no subtitles and Japanese with English subtitles. This is as simple as I can state it, I hope it makes sense, I'm curious to see an actual explanation for if it is possible to do.
