webcam turned off after some time

Postby vlcer » 27 Feb 2013 10:34

Hi!
I use VLC as webcam. VLC grabs pictures from the camera and stores them to hdd by scene filter. It works quite ok, but I've encountered the two problems:

1. After some time, the web cam (Microsoft Lifecam) turns off (blue led goes off) and the vlc saves 0 bytes jpeg picture to hdd. I need to kill the vlc process to stop it (it is not possible to close it in a standard way) otherwise it would continue to save zero size jpeg to hdd without any error message.

2. During the time when it works the jpeg image is in really bad image quality. It seems that vlc store the jpeg picture in the lowest possible jpeg quality and I haven't found any possibility to set the quality in the command line (scene filter doesn't have such option at least in the documentation).

Could you help me please?
